Prayer Flags in Nepal

One of the most visually appealing details of Nepal is the display of the traditional Tibetan Flags, they’re everywhere. Through this religious symbols you can actually understand part of the Buddhist philosophy. They come in 5 different colours:

  • Blue (symbolizing sky/space)
  • White (symbolizing air/wind)
  • Red (symbolizing fire)
  • Green (symbolizing water)
  • Yellow (symbolizing earth)

Traditionally, prayer flags are used to promote peace, compassion, strength, and wisdom. The flags do not carry prayers to ‘gods,’ a common misconception made by westerners,  Tibetans rather believe the prayers and mantras will be blown by the wind to spread good will and compassion into all pervading space, therefore, to bringing benefit to all.

The owner has a passion for orchids and you can see them all over his property, wild orchids everywhere on the woods. I'd neve […]
